On March 3, Ambassador Qin Gang visited Tesla factory in Fremont, California, and had an in-depth dialogue with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Ambassador Qin said to Mr. Musk, some of your explorations seemed impossible in the beginning, but it is in the process of scientific discovery and technological innovation that human beings continue to move forward and turn the "impossible" into possible. Such spirit is admirable. As long as it is in line with the interests of mankind and the progress of the world, it is worth striving for. We should not only keep our feet on the ground and protect the earth, but also look up and think beyond.

Mr. Musk said that in the universe, human consciousness is like a little candle in the vast darkness. Life cannot just be about solving problems every single day. There must be reasons that you’re excited to be alive, that move your heart. Human beings live on the same planet and should get along. Faced with global challenges, we must work together to deal with them. China and the United States have great potential for cooperation in green and low-carbon development, such as new energy utilization and electric vehicles. The Chinese people are hard-working and intelligent, good at getting things done. Tesla’s cooperation with China has been smooth and successful.

Ambassador Qin congratulated Tesla on its good performance in China, emphasizing that all countries should work together to meet the common challenges faced by mankind, which is exactly the essence of the initiative of building a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by President Xi Jinping. China is striving to achieve carbon peaking before 2030 and carbon neutrality before 2060. During this process, the two countries should work together, carry out win-win cooperation, and contribute to the sustainable development of mankind. Tesla is just a success story on this front.

After the meeting, Mr. Musk accompanied Ambassador Qin to experience the latest car model on autopilot on the road.
