Foreign Ministry Spokesperson's Remarks
The US-Asia Institute hosted a reception celebrating 2017 Lunar New Year and 50 Years of ASEAN in the House Rayburn Office Building on February 2. Minister-Counselor Zhang Min attended the reception and made a few remarks.
In his remarks, Minister-Counselor Zhang conveyed Ambassador Cui Tiankai's new year greetings to all guests and their families, and commended the US-Asia Institute for its tremendous efforts in promoting exchanges and cooperation between the U.S. Congress and China. Zhang said, in the year of Rooster, China would continue to work with the new U.S. administration and Congress to ensure a smooth transition of China-U.S. relations. Zhang also said, China stands ready to work with the U.S. and ASEAN countries to maintain peace and stability of the Asia-Pacific region and the world at large.
Congressman Ted Yoho, Chairman of Asia and the Pacific Subcommittee of House Foreign Affairs Committee, Congressman Rick Larsen, House U.S.-China Working Group Co-Chair, Congresswoman Judy Chu, and Ambassadors from ASEAN member countries including Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, and over 100 congressional assistants were present at the reception.
