Minister Counselor CEN Jianjun Attended
the George Washington University ICBC Graduation Ceremony



On August 8, Mr. CEN Jianjun, Minister Counselor for Education of the Embassy of China, Attended the George Washington University ICBC (Industrial and Commercial Bank of China) Graduation Ceremony at Elliott School of International Affairs of George Washington University. Over 100 people from the university, the D.C government, the finance and business sector, the headquarters of ICBC as well as the training program attended the ceremony.

Minister Counselor Cen congratulated the trainees on their graduation and expressed appreciation for George Washington University for its efforts and dedication towards the success of the program. Minister Counselor Cen pointed out that educational exchanges and cooperation have always been one of the priorities and highlights of China-U.S people-to-people exchanges. Student and Staff exchanges are of great importance to both sides, which lays the solid foundation for promoting the long-term friendship between the two counties.

Minister Counselor Cen welcomed more American students to study in China and offered 3 Chinese Government Scholarships to students of George Washington University for the academic year 2017-2018. He hoped that the University would first consider students with financial difficulties and from disadvantaged backgrounds. This offer was met with a big round of applause from the audience.

Minister Counselor Cen presented the graduation certificates to the trainees together with Vice President Leo M. Chalupa of George Washington University.

16 trainees attended the training program. They were selected from thousands of applicants by ICBC Headquarters and sent to George Washington University for 10-month full-time training.
