Remarks by Spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in the US on the Ongoing Visit by Members of the US Congress to Taiwan
2022/04/14 19:37

Q: It is reported that Senator Bob Menendez, Chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Senator Lindsey Graham are visiting Taiwan with four other members of Congress and will meet with Tsai Ing-wen. Do you have any comment?

A:  The visit of the above-mentioned members of the US Congress to Taiwan gravely violates the one-China principle and the stipulations of the three Sino-US Joint Communiques. China firmly opposes this and has lodged stern representation with the US side. We urge the US side to honor its commitment of adhering to the one-China policy, earnestly abide by the one-China principle and the three Sino-US Joint Communiques, immediately stop all forms of official interactions with Taiwan and avoid sending wrong signals to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, lest it should further undermine China-US relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. The Chinese side will continue to take strong measures to resolutely safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
