On May 24th, the Chinese Embassy held a special open house event featuring "Experiencing Chinese Culture". Over 300 students, teachers and parents from Sidwell Friends School, Brent Elementary School and Langley Education Campus and the official from DC Public School and the representative from Washington Performing Arts Society took part in the event.

During the event, the participants toured the new chancery building of the Embassy with its unique art collections, watched video shows about China, appreciated Chinese Kungfu, traditional music and Peking Opera performances, experienced Chinese calligraphy, practiced chopsticks, tasted traditional Chinese foods and participated in quiz on China. Students from Langley Education Campus and Brent Elementary School showed their wonderful performances which they rehearsed meticulously.

Ambassador Zhang Yesui delivered warm remarks. He warmly welcomed all the American students to the Embassy for the Open House Event, which is a special way to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and American people. He also encouraged the students to learn Chinese, get to know Chinese culture and travel to China if they have the opportunity in the future and play a role in the advancement of China-U.S. relations.

Throughout the event, the Embassy was filled with a joyful and festive atmosphere. The students said they had a great time. Many parents and teachers said it is a useful experience for them and helped them better understand China.
