Chinese Ambassador Zhang Yesui hosted a reception at the Chinese Embassy to welcome Minister He Ning on May 24, 2012. Eric Hirschhorn, Under Secretary of Commerce, Claire Reade, Assistant USTR, Mary Bohman, Administrator of the Department of Agriculture, Thomas McLarty, former White House Chief of Staff, Don Bonker, former Congressman, John Frisbie, President of USCBC and other representatives from the US government, business community, think tanks, and Chinese enterprises in the United States as well as Minister Deng Hongbo and Minister Yang Zigang of the Chinese Embassy attended the reception.
In his remarks, Ambassador Zhang said that China and the United States are now each other’s second largest trading partner. Economic and trade ties has become an important pillar in China-US relations. There are great opportunities for bilateral economic cooperation. The newly-created Minister post in the Chinese Embassy in the United States demonstrates China’s strong commitment to further fostering the commercial relationship with the United States. Ambassador Zhang extended his warm welcome to Minister He Ning and hoped that the American friends would render strong support and assistance to Minister He.
Minister He said that he was honored to come to the United States at a time when China-US commercial relationship entered into an important stage. He expressed his readiness to work closely with American friends from all sectors to enhance mutual understanding, deepen cooperation, and further the bilateral commercial relationship.
