Photo Exhibition Highlighting China-US Cooperation in WWII Touches Hearts of Crowds

On August 28, Mme.Wu Xi, Charge d'affaire of the Chinese Embassy in the United States, briefed the media about the exhibition at the Embassy highlighting China-US Cooperation in World War II.

Wu Xi recalled that the Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition on June 24. As the exhibition approaches its 70th day, thousands of people from US government, Congress, think tanks, media and local Chinese community, as well as Chinese students in the US, have viewed the exhibition and were deeply touched by the friendship forged between the two nations during wartime. This is the best way to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War".

Reflecting on history, Wu Xi stressed that people shall not forgot that China was the main theater of war in Asia during World War II, and Chinese people made great sacrifice and contribution to the victory of the war. Chinese and American people fought shoulder to shoulder and forged deep friendship on the road to victory. This exhibition, entitled For Justice and Peace, celebrates and commemorates the victory and friendship, inspires people with historical lessons and builds up our aspiration for better China - U.S. Relations in the future.

Wu Xi pointed out that in the 21st century, China and the US, among the most influential countries in the world, share common interests and responsibilities for world peace, stability and prosperity. Closer cooperation between the two countries is not only in the interest of our two peoples, but also expected by the international community. At the invitation of President Barack Obama, President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to the United States in September. The visit will bear great significance for both China-US relations and the world. The Chinese side would like to work closely with the US side to make sure the visit a great success, propelling the building of new model of relationship for the well being of the peoples of the two countries and around the world.
