US-China Peoples Friendship Association
2018/05/10

Minister Xu Xueyuan of the Chinese Embassy held a reception in honor of US-China Peoples Friendship Association (USCPFA) at the Embassy on May 3, 2018, with participation of representatives from 14 USCPFA chapters.

In her remarks, Minister Xu Xueyuan said, at present, some American friends are discussing about changing the policy towards China to deal with China's rise in a better way. Indeed, China has made remarkable development achievements, and China-U.S. relations are now undergoing changes. But we should know there are still a lot of things that remain unchanged, and should not change. China's fundamental development goal remains unchanged. China will continue to pursue people centered development and stick to the path of peaceful development. China's policy towards the U.S. remains unchanged. China will endeavor to build a new type of relationship between our two countries featuring non-conflict, non-confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation. The successful experience of win-win outcomes for China and the U.S. through cooperation remains unchanged. China's development brings more opportunities to the U.S. than challenges. China and the U.S. can surely find more areas at higher level for win-win and high quality cooperation. The aspirations and needs for mutual understanding and friendship between Chinese and American peoples remain unchanged. Founded in 1974, when China and the U.S. were still estranged, USCPFA has been devoted to enhancing relationship between the U.S. and China. Today, China and the U.S. relationship has gone a long way and has achieved so much. There is no reason for us to allow skepticism or fear dominate our relationship. At this moment, our two peoples should continue to expand exchanges, enhance mutual trust, deepen friendship, and work together to push forward sound and steady development of the China-U.S. relationship.

USCPFA President Diana Greer said, since it was founded in 1974, USCPFA has taken on the mission of promoting understanding and friendship between the American and Chinese peoples. This mission remains unchanged till today. USCPFA will continue to encourage the young generations in the U.S. to carry on this mission, and join hands with the Chinese people to meet challenges and strive for the well-being of the two countries and two peoples, as well as for world peace and prosperity.
