Minister Xu Xueyuan Visits Maryland


On February 4, Minister Xu Xueyuan visited Annapolis, capital of Maryland. During the visit, she met with First lady of Maryland Yumi Hogan, Speaker of the State House Adrienne A. Jones, President of the State Senate Bill Ferguson, Secretary of State John C. Wobensmith. They exchanged views on Maryland’s cooperation with China, and on the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of sister state/province relations between Anhui Province of China and Maryland. They also had in-depth discussions on cooperation projects in trade and investment and cultural exchanges, among other fields, in a bid to upgrade Maryland’s cooperation with China and bring more tangible benefits to the people of both sides.

Minister Xu attended the Annual Legislative Reception hosted by the Maryland Sister States Committee and briefed the guests present about the novel coronavirus outbreak in China and the measures taken by Chinese government to fight the epidemic. At the reception, the Maryland-Anhui Sister State Commission launched a donation drive to raise funds for China’s epidemic control efforts.
