Maryland received donated medical supplies from Anhui


On April 17, the medical supplies donated by Anhui Province arrived in Maryland. Deputy Secretary of State of Maryland Luis Borunda, Anhui-Maryland Sister State/Province Committee representative Xu Gang and other officials were present at the arrival of the supplies. Minister Xu Xueyuan of the Chinese Embassy communicated with them through real-time video connection.

Deputy Secretary of State Borunda spoke highly of the long-term friendly relationship between Maryland and China and extended sincere gratitude to Sister Province Anhui for donating the supplies. Minister Xu gave an account of the significant progress China has made in fighting COVID-19 and extended sympathy and condolences to Marylanders affected by the pandemic. She expressed hope that the medical supplies donated by Anhui Province can help Maryland fight against the disease and that China and the US will cooperate to overcome the difficulties together.

Anhui and Maryland established sister province/state relationship in 1980 and have maintained close exchanges and cooperation in a wide range of areas, including people-to-people exchanges, economy, trade, education and tourism.
