Minister Li Kexin Spoke at "Model G20 Initiative"

On October 6 2016, Minister Li Kexin Attended "Model G20 Initiative” Inaugural Event at the American University’s School of International Service (SIS). Mr. James Goldgeier, Dean of the SIS, chaired the event and welcomed Minister Li to make the opening speech. Mr, Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, delivered keynote remarks. Professor Cecilia Nahon, former Ambassador of Argentina to the US, faculty and students from SIS, diplomats, experts from think tanks and students from other schools in Washington DC area participated in the event.

 

In his remarks, Minister Li Kexin highlighted the achievements of the G20 Hangzhou Summit, elaborating how the summit has charted the course for world economic growth, strengthened vigor and vitality of G20 and enhanced confidence of the world to the bright future of China’s economy. China will expand the scope of opening up and continue to cooperate with G20 members and relevant parties to promote strong, balanced, sustainable and inclusive growth of world economy. Minister Li congratulated the opening of “Model G20 Initiative” and expressed his hope for more academic engagement to implement G20 plans.

 

Minister Li’s remarks were highly applauded by the audience. Mr. Goldgeier and American attendants talked about “Hangzhou Impression”, spoke highly of China’s role, and hope to further cooperate with China.

 

Model G20 Initiative, an innovative program launched by American University’s School of International Service (SIS), has been designed to bring together students across the United States and abroad to advance the understanding of the G20 and international economic cooperation and to prepare future leaders by fully simulating a G20 Leaders’ Summit.
