Chinese Embassy Held a Reception for WACA 2019 Annual Conference Participants

On November 7, 2019, the Chinese Embassy in the US held a reception for the participants of the 2019 Annual Conference of World Affairs Councils of America (WACA). DCM & Minister Li Kexin attended the reception and delivered a speech. WACA members from all over the country and Chinese Diplomats attended the event.


In his speech, DCM & Minister Li Kexin looked back on the great achievements China has made during the past 70 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China and the path Sino-US relations had gone through for the past 40 years of diplomatic ties. Minister Li said, China’s goal has always been clear. The aspirations of the people to live a better life must always be the focus of our efforts. Going forward, both countries should stand to their responsibilities to history and answer the call of the 1.7 billion people of our two countries and even the entire world. It is the people who make history. And it is the Chinese and American people that will determine the future of China-US relations. We are willing to strengthen cooperation with the World Affairs Councils of America to help build a bridge between the peoples from China and the US, and to play a positive role in promoting China-US relationship based on coordination, cooperation and stability, and promoting global peace and development.


Bill Clifford, President and CEO of WACA, expressed his gratitude for the embassy’s hospitality on holding the reception. He said, during the past 40 years we've seen China's extraodinary rise as an economic power and a much more powerful influencer of global affairs. The China-US relationship literally touches every American life. Cooperation is the bedrock of this relationship which should be further strengthened and put into good uses on various issues.WACA is willing to help building important bridges for peace and prosperity of US-China relationship in the 40 years to come.
