Minister Wu Xi Greeted PLA Navy Hospital Ship 'Ark Peace' at San Diego, California

On November 3, 2015, Minister Wu Xi of the Chinese Embassy and Deputy Consul General of Chinese Consulate-General in Los Angeles Wang Lei welcomed the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) Hospital Ship 'Ark Peace', which is on the duty of 'Harmonious Mission -2015', at the port of San Diego, California. Minister Wu attended the welcome ceremony held by US Navy and a deck reception on 'Ark Peace', among other activities.

 

Minister Wu noted that the visit of Ark Peace is not only an important follow-up to the outcome of the visit by President Xi Jinping to the U.S., but also an important measure to deepen the China-US mil-to-mil exchanges. The exchanges between Ark Peace and its US counterparts during the visit is conducive to enhance mutual understanding and trust between the two militaries and also contribute to the building of a new model of major country relationship between China and the U.S..

 

Ark Peace visited U.S. from November 3rd to 7th, with Naval Colonel Guan Bolin, deputy Chief of Staff of the East China Sea Fleet, as the Fleet Commander. Officers and soldiers from Ark Peace visited the U.S hospital ship 'Mercy' and other military medical facilities during the stay. They also joined cultural and recreational events at the Confucius Institute at San Diego State University and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. More than 1000 people from the US troops and the local community including overseas Chinese went aboard to visit Ark Peace. Free physical exam service was also provided for the local community, including staff from the Chinese Embassy and Consulates, Chinese enterprises and overseas Chinese.
