His Excellency Ambassador Zhou Wenzhong, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the United States,wrote to senators and congresspersons from the states of Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi on September 1, 2005 to express his sympathy for the victims of Hurricane Katrina on behalf of the Chinese Government and people. In his letter, Ambassador Zhou says that the Chinese Government and people are with the American people in fighting this severe natural disaster. The Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) has donated 100,000 US dollars to the American Red Cross (ARC) on September 1 to help the American people with the relief work in areas hit by Hurricane Katrina. And China stands ready to provide further assistance. Ambassador Zhou believes that the people of Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi will overcome the aftermath of the disaster and rebuild their beautiful homeland soon.
