Chargé d’Affaires Xu Xueyuan attended the 3rd China-U.S. Agricultural Round-table Forum and delivered a speech

On April 4, 2023, Chargé d’Affaires Xu Xueyuan was invited to attend the 3rd China-U.S. Agricultural Roundtable Forum held in St. Louis, Missouri and delivered a speech (Chinese, English) at the event. Xu highly commended the good results of the China-U.S. agricultural dialogue represented by the round-table forum, encouraged the agricultural communities of both countries to enhance two-way trade and explore new areas of cooperation on agricultural modernization.

The forum is titled "Global Food Security - Rise to the Challenge" and hosted by the U.S. Heartland China Association (USHCA). Ambassador Branstad, President of the World Food Prize Foundation, Governor Holden, Chairman of the USHCA, Ambassador Burns, Ambassador of the United States of America to the People's Republic of China, Mr. Hafmeister, Acting Deputy Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture attended the meeting. The agricultural delegations of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the representatives of Shandong, Jiangsu and Hebei provinces, the Department of Agriculture of North Dakota, and the relevant agricultural associations, business representatives of the two countries attended the meeting. At the forum, the participants spoke warmly of the China-U.S. agricultural cooperation and its bright prospects. They had in-depth exchanges through the three sub-forums, respectively on seed industry and crop protection, agriculture and food supply chain, and the Farm Bill. The event is to be followed by an online dialogue between think tanks and agricultural education organizations.

During the forum, Xu also met with the Mayor of St. Louis, the County Executive of St. Louis and other local officials as well as the heads of relevant agricultural enterprises, institutions and industrial associations.
