On the afternoon of May 1, Charge d'affaires Xu Xueyuan was invited to attend the 2023 Select USA Investment Summit reception hosted by the China General Chamber of Commerce-USA(CGCC) and delivered a speech (Chinese, English). About 200 people attended the event, including Hu Wei, President of CGCC, Diane Farrell, Deputy Under Secretary of U.S. Department of Commerce, Laurie Farris, Commercial Counselor of U.S. Embassy in China, and representatives of CGCC member companies as well as participants of the Summit from China.

Xu pointed out that the current world economy faces multiple challenges. As the world's two largest economies and each other's important trading partner, China and the United States should work together to promote global economic recovery. The economic structure of China and that of the United States are highly complementary, and the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries is, in essence, mutually beneficial. The position of the Chinese government on promoting the development of China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation has not changed. It is hoped that the United States will provide a fair, just and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies to invest with greater confidence. It is hoped that Chinese entrepreneurs will demonstrate their entrepreneurship, further  explore the U.S. market, contribute to the local communities, and play a bigger part in China-U.S. cooperation and world economic recovery.

The Select USA Investment Summit is an important platform organized by the U.S. government for international investors. This year, it attracted dozens of Chinese companies, the strongest participation since the pandemic.
