Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Meets with New U.S. Ambassador to China Huntsman(09/03/09)

On September 2, 2009, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with new U.S. Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman. Yang expressed welcome for Huntsman to assume his new office in China, saying that with the joint efforts of both sides, China-U.S. relations have maintained a positive momentum of development and face important opportunities for further development. Both countries should and can conduct closer coordination and cooperation either in coping with the global financial crisis or in handling various regional hotspot issues and global challenges. China is ready to work with the U.S. to enhance exchanges and cooperation in all areas, respect and accommodate each other's core interests and lift China-U.S. ties to a new level, so as to bring more benefits to the two peoples and the people of the whole world.

Huntsman said that U.S.-China relations enjoy a sound momentum of development. The U.S. attaches importance to ties with China and is ready to work with it to build a positive, stable, comprehensive and constructive U.S.-China relationship. He pledged to make unremitting efforts to this end.
