|Premier Wen Jiabao Has Cordial Discussions with Foreign Experts in China|
As the Spring Festival was approaching, Wen Jiabao, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Premier of the State Council, received senior foreign experts who have been long committed to the Chinese revolution and development, representatives of outstanding foreign experts working in China and their families in the Great Hall of the People on the afternoon of February 9, 2010. Premier Wen also had cordial discussions with them.
The East Hall was filled with a festive atmosphere. More than 20 foreign experts and their families attended the meeting. Isabel, representative of senior foreign experts, Daniel J.Dudek and Jean Dorey, representatives of outstanding foreign experts spoke on behalf of foreign experts in China. They thanked the Chinese government for the care and help during their working and living in China and put forward their advice and suggestions on accelerating the building of rural communities, promoting sustainable economic development in China, encouraging foreign cooperation in running schools, and other issues.
After carefully listening to experts’ advice and suggestions, Premier Wen Jiabao expressed gratitude and extended festive greetings to all foreign experts working in China and their families on behalf of the CPC Central Committee the State Council.
Wen said that open-up is China's basic national policy. Giving priority to Introducing both "foreign capital" and "foreign wisdom" is our long-held strategic policy. China is determined to implement the strategy of reinvigorating China through people and the strategy of sustainable development. China sticks to using the power of technology to lead China's sustainable development and drive the shift of economic development modes. That means China on one hand must strive to cultivate a large number of excellent domestic talents and on the other hand actively introduce foreign talents, especially high-level and urgently-needed talents. Wen sincerely welcomed more foreign experts to work in China and participate in China's modernization drive. He asked relevant departments to strengthen and improve their services for foreign experts, implement and improve relevant policies and upgrade service levels so that foreign experts from afar are able to display their talents, develop their business, and fulfill their dreams in China.
The meeting went well in a cordial, warm and auspicious atmosphere. After the meeting, Premier Wen Jiabao shook hands with foreign experts one by one and then took a group photo with them.
The top leaders present at the meeting included Li Yuanchao (member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee), Zhang Dejiang (member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice-Premier of the State Council), Ling Jihua, (member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee), and Ma Kai (State Councilor and Secretary-General of the State Council).
