Foreign ministry: Obama stresses importance of relations with China

BEIJING, March 24 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama attaches great importance to U.S.-China relations and works to develop an active, cooperative and comprehensive relationship with China, Chinese Foreign Ministry cited U.S. sources as saying.

According to a news release from the Foreign Ministry Wednesday, the U.S. side made clear its adherence to the one-China policy and the importance it places on China's stance and concern over the issues related to Taiwan and Tibet.

The U.S. side made the comment as Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai stopped by Washington during his overseas trip and met with senior U.S. officials.
