Mail-in Application



  1. You must have completed Authentication Procedures Step 1 and Step 2 for your documents;

  2. You must include all documents required for authentication;

3. You have read payment instructions and agreed to pay for the mail-in service;

4. You agree to the terms and conditions regarding mail-in service listed on this page.

What is to be Included in Your Mail Package

1. Complete application documents (Check Documents to be Submitted here);

2. Payment to the Embassy/Consulate-General:  

A.   Application fee: Civil documents:  $25 per item; Commercial documents:  $50 per item;

B.   Handling fee: $5 per package;

3.  Total cost= $25 (or $50) X total number of items + $5. Please pay with money/order/cashier's check/company check. You may write ONE check for the total cost. Please make your check or money order payable to "Chinese Embassy" (for applications submitted to the Embassy), or to "Chinese Consulate in XXX" (for applications submitted to the Consulate General in XXX city). Please make sure you have the exact and correct amount written on your check/money order.

4. A Prepaid, self-addressed envelope for returning your documents: Only envelope with tracking number/bar code is accepted, preferably Fedex Express, UPS, USPS Express Mail; Do NOT use Fedex Ground, meter stamped envelope, or certified/registered return mail as your return envelope; You must use your own mailing address as both the sender and recipient.

  NoteDo NOT mail your application to another address of the Embassy. Make sure you write "Document Authentication" following "Visa Office". The Embassy will not be responsible for any delays or losses incurred as a result of your negligence or incompliance.

Processing Time

All mail-in applications requires 7 business days to process. Express service is NOT available.


Please note that the Embassy will NOT respond to any inquiries regarding the status of your mail-in application within 15 business days beginning from the date your mail arrives at the Embassy. You will be contacted if there is any application-related issue.


1. Please note that your mail-in authentication application may be delayed or rejected as a result of your failure to include sufficient documentations or your negligence or incompliance.

2. By using the mail-in service, you are acknowledging and agreeing to accept the risks that your documents may get lost or damaged or mishandled by your mail carrier. The Embassy must not be held responsible in case of such accidents.
