Xi Jinping Meets with Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia

On November 7, 2014, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping welcomed Hun Sen to attend the Dialogue on Strengthening Connectivity Partnership in China. Xi Jinping pointed out that time tries all. China and Cambodia have always been intimate friends and reliable partners sharing thick and thin and joining hands for cooperation. This kind of traditional friendship is very precious and should be unremittingly maintained and developed by us, thus to constantly advance bilateral relations and form a community of shared destiny featuring mutual help. China supports Prime Minister Hun Sen and the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) leading Cambodia to follow the development path conforming to its national conditions, and will continuously offer help for Cambodia’s economic and social development. China is wiling to, together with Cambodia, maintain high-level exchanges and inter-party communication, exchange experience on governance and administration of state affairs, boost cooperation in such fields as connectivity, agriculture, hydropower, economic special zone, education, medical care, telecommunication and tourism, and promote the building of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. China supports the two countries to intensify people-to-people and cultural and youth exchanges, constantly carrying forward China-Cambodia friendship. Both sides should enhance coordination and communication in regional affairs and join hands to safeguard and push forward unity and cooperation between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Hun Sen expressed that China’s long-term and firm support to Cambodia is the true refection of Cambodia-China traditional friendship. Cambodia will always support China in safeguarding national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity and will enhance high-level exchanges with China. Cambodia hopes that President Xi Jinping could pay a state visit to Cambodia at an early date. The two countries should conduct more exchanges between the ruling parties, governments and armies as well as in local and people-to people fields, expand cooperation and carry forward friendship. Cambodia fully supports China to hold the Dialogue on Strengthening Connectivity Partnership and the Informal Leaders’ Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), and hopes to, with the help of building the “One Belt One Road”, enhance its own infrastructure construction and economic development, take part in the process of regional integration and promote regional peace and stability.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others attended the meeting.
