Li Keqiang and Dmitry Medvedev Exchange New Year Congratulatory Messages

On December 31, 2016, Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev of Russia sent new year congratulatory messages to each other.

Li Keqiang sent his new year wishes to Dmitry Medvedev, and said that China-Russia relations continue to maintain high-level development this year and the two sides have, on the basis of purposes and principles confirmed by Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between China and Russia, carried out close strategic coordination, effectively safeguarded the interests of both countries, and pushed for world and regional peace, stability and development. On the 20th anniversary of the establishment of regular meeting mechanism between Chinese Premier and Russian Prime Minister, we successfully held a meeting in St. Petersburg, during which we fully summarized cooperation outcomes in various fields, reached important consensus on the new direction of expanding bilateral practical cooperation and further deepened the integration of the two countries’ interests. I spoke highly of such results.

Li Keqiang pointed out that in the new year, I’m willing to maintain close contact with you, push bilateral cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, energy, aerospace, aviation, high-speed railway and Far-East development for new achievements, actively tap cooperation potential in small and medium-sized enterprises, technological innovation, agriculture and other fields, and intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to benefit the two countries and people.

Dmitry Medvedev expressed in the message that both countries have witnessed booming development of Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination in 2016, fully promoted bilateral cooperation in economy, trade and investment, gradually implemented a series of cooperation projects in energy, infrastructure and industry and successfully launched Russia-China Media Exchange Year. Cooperation in the integration between the Eurasian Economic Union construction and the Silk Road Economic Belt construction offers new opportunities to expand bilateral practical cooperation. It is believed that such important cooperation will be continuously pushed forward.
