Yang Jiechi Meets with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara of Nepal

On September 7, 2017, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met in Zhongnanhai with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara of Nepal.

Yang Jiechi said that China and Nepal are friendly neighboring countries with mutual respect and trust. Both sides should seize the general situation of bilateral relations from a strategic height and long-term perspective, support each other's core interests, take the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" as an opportunity and boost cooperation in various fields including connectivity, so as to promote China-Nepal relations for new progress.

Krishna Bahadur Mahara stated that Nepal-China relations are established on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. The Nepalese government firmly adheres to the one-China policy, and expects to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation with China in various fields under the "Belt and Road" framework.
