DILI, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Timor-Leste is willing to further develop its bilateral ties with China to a new level, the country 's new President Taur Matan Ruak said Sunday.

Ruak, who was sworn in as Timor-Leste's president early Sunday, made the remarks while meeting with Wang Zhizhen, special envoy of Chinese President Hu Jintao.

Ruak expressed satisfaction with the sound development of Timor- Leste-China ties, and thanked China for the assistance it offered to Timor-Leste.

During his five-year term as president, Timor-Leste will continue to stick to the one-China policy and support China on issues related to China's core intersts, Ruak said.

He also said Timor-Leste is willing to further promote bilateral cooperation in various fields and push the bilateral ties to a new high.

Wang, who is also vice chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said the political mutual trust and cooperation in various fields between China and Timor-Leste has been increased since the two countries establish diplomatic ties 10 years ago.

China expects closer cooperation with Timor-Leste in such fields as economy and trade, agriculture and energy. The country is willing to continue to provide assistance within its capacity for Timor-Leste, Wang said.

She added that China is also willing to enhance coordination with Timor-Leste in global and regional affairs.

Wang arrived here with a delegation of Chinese political advisors for the celebration for the 10th anniversary of Timor- Leste's independence.
