President Hu Jintao Visits the Chinese Companies in the US Midwest Enterprises Exhibition

On Jan. 21, 2011, Chinese President Hu Jintao, who is paying a state visit to the United States, visits the Chinese enterprises in the US Midwest Enterprises Exhibition in Chicago. 

On the morning of Jan. 21, local time, Chinese President Hu Jintao, who is paying a state visit to the United States, visited the Chinese enterprises in the US Midwest Enterprises Exhibition in Chicago. He encouraged Chinese enterprises in the US to keep growing in the US and play a greater role in promoting bilateral economic and trade cooperation and enhancing the friendship between the two peoples.

At about 11:30 a.m., President Hu, accompanied by Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, arrived at the exhibition hall in Woodridge, a suburban city of Chicago. He was warmly received by the business leaders including the president of China General Chamber of Commerce-USA (CGCC-USA).

The banner, "A Warm Welcome to President Hu Jintao", was hung at the entrance of the hall. At the center of the hall, the physical products of Chinese and local enterprises in the Midwest of the United States were displayed. The exhibition booths distributed around the center included organizations and companies such as China General Chamber of Commerce-USA, Wanxiang America Corporation, Huawei North America, SAIC-USA, China Telecom Americas, ZTE USA Inc., BYD America Corp, DMTG Ingersoll, Shanghai BFM, US branches of the Bank of China and A. Finkl & Sons of the US.

President Hu entered the exhibition area and visited the booths. He watched the physical products and display panels with great interest. He had interactions with the representatives of some companies to understand their situation. He also had cordial conversations with US employees of Chinese companies.

In front of the booths, President Hu said the success of Chinese companies in the United States is a microcosm of mutually beneficial cooperation between China and the US. The development of these enterprises has injected vitality into the US economy and created employment opportunities for local residents. With the further development of China-US economic and trade relations, there will be more Chinese enterprises to invest in the United States.

On Jan. 21, President Hu Jintao is visiting Chinese enterprises in the US Midwest Enterprises Exhibition in Chicago.

The representative from BYD is introducing to President Hu Jintao the production of energy-saving products in the USA.

President Hu said the Chinese government will continue to support Chinese enterprises to invest in the United States and also hopes that the US side provides a fair environment for the Chinese enterprises to invest in the US.

Mayor Richard M. Daley said in his speech that many Chinese companies have chosen Chicago as their investment destination. Chicago would like to become a gateway for China-US trade and mutual investment and would strive to create a good investment environment for Chinese companies.

CGCC President Li Xiaojing extended a warm welcome to President Hu on behalf of over 1,300 Chinese companies in the US and briefly introduced China's investment in the US. He said China's investment in the US not only benefits the growth of Chinese companies, but also increase tens of thousands of local jobs. The Chinese companies in the US will continue to make new contributions to expanding economic and trade cooperation between China and the US.

After the visit, President Hu concluded his state visit to the United States and left Chicago for home in his special plane.

Before leaving the United States, President Hu sent a letter of thanks to President Barack Obama, in which he expressed the belief that with the joint efforts of the two sides, China-US relations will continue to grow to better benefit the two peoples and make greater contributions to the peace, stability and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region and the world.
