Vice Premier Wang Qishan Meets with Former Mayor of Chicago Richard M. Daley

On April 13, 2012, Vice Premier Wang Qishan met in Zhongnanhai with Richard M. Daley, former Mayor of Chicago, the United States.

Wang expressed his appreciation to Daley for his long-term efforts to develop the friendly relations with China during his tenure as the Mayor of Chicago. Wang said that the local cooperation between China and the United States has been growing rapidly in recent years, which has brought tangible benefits to both peoples. The two sides should give full play to the role of China-US Governors Forum as a platform, strengthen the contacts between the U.S. Conference of Mayors and the China Association of Mayors (CAM), deepen the local pragmatic cooperation in various fields such as economy & trade, investment, culture, people-to-people exchanges, education and tourism, and promote bilateral economic growth and employment increase.

Daley expressed the willingness to keep promoting China-US exchanges and cooperation at all levels, so as to contribute to the health of economic relations between the two countries.
