Minister Li Kexin Talks to Business Leaders with Former U.S. Ambassador to China Max Baucus

Minister Li Kexin joined a panel discussion about China-U.S. economic relations upon invitation of the U.S. - China Business Council and Edelman on April 26, 2018. Minister Li had a candid talk to business leaders on China-U.S. relations and current bilateral trade tensions, together with former U.S. Ambassador to China Max Baucus. John Frisbie, President of the U.S.- China Business Council, chaired the discussion. Around 40 representatives from business circle including Exxon Mobil Corporation, Koch Industries, Emerson, P&G, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, and the Walt Disney Company attended the discussion.

Minister Li emphasized that the 40th anniversary of China and the U.S. formal diplomatic relationship will come soon. During the past 40 years, China-US relations have achieved tremendous progress in a variety of areas including business and people-to-people exchange. Currently, there are some tensions in China-U.S. trade relations, which are not what the Chinese side wants to see. We strongly believe that the China-US economic relationship is mutually beneficial and the problems we are facing can only be addressed by negotiation and dialogue. We hope that the dialogue between two countries currently under planning will make substantive progress. Business is the key linkage between the two countries and a stable and predictable bilateral trade relation is significant to all businesses. American businesses should play more active roles in promoting a more robust China-US economic relation.
