On July 9, 2014, Yang Jiechi, the Special Representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping and State Councilor, said in the strategic dialogue under the framework of the sixth round of China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue that China looks forward to achieving long-term peace and stability and lasting prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region, which is the starting point and the foothold of China's Asia-Pacific policy.

Yang Jiechi emphasized that China has always been committed to safeguarding a peaceful and stable regional environment, unswervingly followed the path of peaceful development and actively promoted common development and prosperity for all countries, and adhered to a neighborhood diplomacy concept featuring "amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness".
