Yang Jiechi: Double Standards or Triple Standards Should Not Be Adopted in Combating Terrorism
2014/07/09

On July 9, 2014, Special Representative of President Xi Jinping and State Councilor Yang Jiechi, during his attendance at the strategic dialogues under the framework of the 6th round of China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue, stressed that terrorism is terrorism. Wherever it occurs, in whatever form out of whatever kind of reason and whoever it is targeted, the international community should take a clear-cut opposition stance and work together to fight it without any double standards or triple standards.

Yang Jiechi said that both China and the US are victims of terrorism. Since China and the US established a cooperative mechanism against terrorism in 2001, the bilateral cooperation has scored a number of positive results. Under the current circumstances, both China and the US are confronted with increasing terrorism threats and challenges, and should make full use of the effective platforms including the counter-terrorism consultation, boost cooperation and combat terrorism together.
