China's parliament starts annual session

BEIJING, March 5 (Xinhua) -- The National People's Congress (NPC), China's parliament, opened its annual session Saturday morning in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Premier Wen Jiabao delivers a report on the work of the government at the opening meeting chaired by NPC Standing Committee Chairman Wu Bangguo.

Nearly 3,000 national legislators are present at the opening meeting along with top Communist Party of China (CPC) and state leaders Hu Jintao, Jia Qinglin, Li Changchun, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, He Guoqiang and Zhou Yongkang.
