Relief materials reach Sichuan quake zone

BEIJING, April 24 (Xinhua) -- A total of 47,000 tents and 199,000 cotton quilts has arrived at areas hit by Saturday's 7.0-magnitude earthquake in southwest China's Sichuan Province as of 9 a.m. on Wednesday, said the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

Quake relief materials, including 10,000 items of clothing, 10,000 folding beds, 200 makeshift toilets, 100,000 candles and 900 emergency lamps have also reached the quake-affected zone in Ya'an City, said the ministry.

The quake-hit areas will receive more relief materials which have been dispatched from nine central disaster relief reserves in Hefei, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Changsha, Chengdu, Nanning, Kunming, Xi'an and Lanzhou, the ministry said.

According to the ministry, the quake has left 193 dead, 25 missing and 12,211 injured as of 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
