Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius of France

  On Sept. 24, local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius of France at the UN headquarters, New York.

  Both sides mainly discussed the issue of Syria. Wang Yi said that at present, all parties should maintain the momentum of the peaceful resolution of the issue of chemical weapons in Syria and reach consensus among the international community as soon as possible. China hopes that the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) will start the process of inspecting and destroying Syria's chemical weapons as soon as possible. The UN Security Council should offer political support for the process. At the same time, the process of the political resolution of the Syrian issue should be accelerated and the second international conference in Geneva should be held at an early date.

  Wang Yi expressed that China and France have held good discussions on the Syrian issue. It will help the UN Security Council to reach unanimity as soon as possible.

  Both sides as well exchanged views on the Iranian nuclear, Korean Peninsula nuclear and other issues.
