On 24 September 2013, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, at the UN headquarters, New York.

Wang Yi expressed that China-AU relations are now on a "fast track". Both sides enjoy frequent high-level exchanges, fruitful practical cooperation as well as unceasing improvement of communication and dialogue mechanisms. Developing friendly cooperative relations with African countries is an important foundation of China's foreign policy. It is also China's long-term and firm strategic choice. Going forward, China is ready to maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges with AU, to enlarge and strengthen practical cooperation, to deepen cooperation in the field of peace and security, and to keep close coordination and cooperation in international affairs. China will work with African countries to fully implement the outcomes of President Xi Jinping's visit to Africa and of the Fifth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation so as to better benefit both peoples.

Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma expressed that she is grateful for China's support to AU as well as the all-dimensional cooperation with AU agencies. Hope both sides will unceasingly explore practical cooperation in the fields of infrastructure construction, human resources, manufacturing and agriculture so as to push for the greater development of Africa-China relations.
