Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy of Egypt

  On Sept. 23, 2013, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy of Egypt at the UN headquarters, New York.

  Wang Yi said that China and Egypt enjoy a profound traditional friendship and bilateral relations have withstood the tests of time and the changing situation. China has always taken Egypt as one of the most important strategic partners among developing countries. China is ready to work with Egypt to continue to deepen bilateral relations. Hope the Egyptian government will take measures to guarantee the safety of Chinese nationals in Egypt and to provide facilitation for Chinese enterprises to conduct business in Egypt.

  Wang Yi expressed that the Chinese side is paying high attention to the development of the situation in Egypt and sincerely hopes that Egypt will achieve full stability and restore development as soon as possible. China appreciates the Egyptian government’s commitment to reconciliation and unity and hopes that all parties will work together to promote the process of inclusive political transition. It is believed that the Egyptian people have wisdom and ability to defuse challenges and to find a development path truly suited to their own national conditions. China will continue to support Egypt’s efforts to develop the economy and improve people’s livelihood.

  Fahmy expressed that he is grateful for China’s long-time support to the Egyptian people and looks forward to continuing all-dimensional cooperation with China. The Egyptian government will make every effort to protect the safety of Chinese institutions and nationals in Egypt. Chinese businesses are welcomed to invest and develop in Egypt.
