China Has Three Advantages to Develop the Relations with Africa

On September 23, 2013, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at the Third Round of Political Consultations between Chinese and African Foreign Ministers on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly at United Nations Headquarters in New York that an African foreign minister once said that China has three major advantages to develop the relations with Africa: first, China has no history of colonialism in Africa and has never interfered in the internal affairs of Africa; second, China has proven to the world that China is a sincere and unselfish friend of Africa with its actions such as China's assistance to and investment in Africa; third, China is participating more and more in the peacekeeping operations in Africa to help Africa resolve regional conflicts.

Wang Yi said these remarks represent the voice of African brothers. In fact, the three advantages can boil down to one point: China and Africa have formed true friendship and trust in the long process of sharing weal and woe together and helping each other along the way. Such friendship and trust is more precious than gold. China will always be a strong supporter and a reliable ally for Africa to strengthen itself through unity. China fully supports Africa to choose the path of development suited to its own conditions. China attaches no political condition to its assistance to Africa's development. China supports Africa's own efforts to solve the regional issues by itself.
