On September 20, 2018, Minister Counselor Yu Yue, Alternate Observer of China to the Organization of American States (OAS), addressed the Second Specialized Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) Meeting of High-Level Cooperation Authorities on such topics as cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) Countries, as well as the extension of the Belt and Road Initiative to the LAC region. Cooperation Authorities from member states of the OAS and officials of the Executive Secretariat for Integral Development of the Organization were present at the event.
